Deepan Chakravarthy
and Tania Sachdev (both India) took the Boys and
Girls title at Club Palm Bay, Marawila, here
today. India swept to all the six titles making
it an unique result in Asian Juniors history.
Deepan becomes richer by US Dollars 1000, while
Tania pockets US Dollars 600.
Deepan,
Satyapragayan and Kidambi take the gold, silver
and bronze in the boys section, while Tania,
Prathiba and Mary Ann Gomes clinch the gold,
silver and bronze in the Girls section. Talented
Sri Lankan junior M K Athula Russell made it to
the prize list finishing tenth with 6.5 points.
On the Girls section, Chaturi Hettige finished
eleventh with 6.0 points bringing cheers to the
Sri Lankan camp.
The US Dollar 5000 mega chess event,
strongest tournament to be conducted in Sri
Lankan soil, came to a fitting conclusion with
the strongest team in Asia taking all the
honors.
